Beardstown council to renew agreement with Cass Comm

The Beardstown City Council heard from Chad Winters of Cass Comm regarding the city’s soon to expire franchise agreement and upcoming renewal at Tuesday night’s meeting.
    The council asked Mr. Winters questions about how any changes to the agreement would impact citizens. Mr. Winters provided information about how long or short franchise agreements generally are and explained how the agreement works, what benefits the city reaps as a result, and also explained that Cass Comm as historically gone above and beyond the terms of the franchise agreement.
    Cass Comm provides complementary television service at city buildings as well as some complementary internet, which includes hot spots throughout town that any Cass Comm customer can use if they log in. The council is expected to vote on a new franchise agreement in the near future.
