Beardstown Council adopts resolution supporting marina

measure passes by a unanimous vote

With a small flotilla of boats filling Third Street outside city hall, a well-presented project update, and a clarification of resolution language diffused a potentially contentious situation and led to a unanimous Beardstown City Council vote supporting the Beardstown Harbor project.

During the council’s “Committee as a Whole” meeting that proceeded the regular council meeting, Harbor Project Chairman Kelly Cagle gave a 30-minute detailed update regarding efforts to regain long lost access to the Illinois River – a result of siltation from the Sangamon River.

In her presentation to the council, and a mostly full-house of interested citizens, Cagle outlined the presentation she made to the Reverse Funding Fair held by the U.S. Depart- ment of Agriculture. &nbsp;&nbsp;<ahref=""><spanstyl... 13px; color: rgb(0, 0, 0);">To view more, please log in or subscribe to the digital edition.</span></a></p>
