Beardstown Christian Church holds Back to School event

The First Christian Church, 1421 Beard Street in Beardstown, holds their annual Back to School Fair on Saturday, Aug. 6 from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. This is the tenth year that the church has hosted this free event for the children of Beardstown and the surrounding communities. During that morning, F.C.C. will pass out backpacks and basic school supplies to help local children be prepared for the start of the school year. Each child will also be able to select a book to take home for their very own.
The event will also feature free hot dogs, chips, cookies, drinks and snow cones for all who attend. There will be free basic haircuts for the children provided by local beauticians. A bounce house and inflatable slide, as well as a variety of games will be on hand for the children’s recreation.
New to the fair this year is a mobile food pantry. The Central Illinois Mobile Food Bank will deliver a semi-truck load of food to be distributed. All families attending the fair will receive a variety of groceries to help supplement their food supply at home.
