American Legion donates a building to village of Chapin

The village of Chapin accepted a piece of donated property at its March meeting held last week. The Chapin American Legion post donated its meeting hall and adjoining land to the village.
A public hearing was held prior to the regular monthly meeting so citizens could ask questions and/or object to the donation.  Declining membership and lack of funding were the reasons the Legion chose to donate the property so it would continue to be a community meeting place.
