Looking for Ruth Lasse
I am writing a book chronicling the history of the Illinois High School Association’s speech and drama competitions that began in 1941. In that inaugural year, Ruth Lasse of Beardstown was one of the inaugural state champions (in the Serious Reading event).
I’ve compared the information from the IHSA website with the 1941 Beardstown High School yearbook. Her name was spelled “Ruth Lasse” and she did graduate from Beardstown in 1941. Beyond that – she is a ghost. While I’ve found others via news of enlistment, career advancement, marriage, or death, I’ve been able to locate no other information about her in my research. There was a Ruth M. Lasse in Peoria, IL’s Manual High School Yearbook in 1940, and while I can’t confirm the Ruth Lasse I’m looking into was at Beardstown that year, I did see her in the 1939 and 1941 BHS yearbooks. <ahref="http://etypeservices.com/Cass%20County%20Star%20GazetteID497/"><spanstyl... 13px; color: rgb(0, 0, 0);">To view more, please log in or subscribe to the digital edition.</span></a></p>
