Nancy A. Yost, 85, Beardstown, died Thursday, May 13, 2021 at Heritage Health in Beardstown.
She was born December 28, 1935 in St. Francisville, the daughter of John A. and Margaret H. Meyer Griggs. She married Robert E. Yost on June 16, 1957 in Beardstown and he preceded her in death on May 21, 2013.
She is survived by two sons, Michael E. (Chris) Yost of Jacksonville and Lynn A. (Wendy) Yost of Virginia; one daughter, Lynda M. Yost of Alliance, NE; six grandchildren, Jimmy (Lucy) Yost of Beardstown, Christopher Yost of Nashville, TN, Laura Pettie of Bottineau, ND, Michelle Chubick of Alliance, NE, Jessica (Griffin) Patterson and Adam (Olivia) Mefford, all of Jacksonville; and eight great-grandchildren, Jordan and Layla Chubick, Landon and Natalie Yost, Myah and Brandon Mefford, Averie Patterson and Billie Lyn Pettie.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Charlie Griggs (surviving wife, Becky of Beardstown) and grandson, Micah Mefford.
Mrs. Yost was a 1953 graduate of Beardstown High School and a lifelong member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Beardstown. She was employed, as a legal secretary, at McClure, McClure and Brannan Law office in Beardstown from 1970 until her retirement in 1995. Nancy enjoyed camping with her husband at Lake Jacksonville where they were members of Starlite Campers. She acquired an extensive display of pelican collectibles over the years and was an avid fan of St. Louis Cardinals baseball. Her true love was for her family, sharing time with them and attending her grandchildren’s athletic events and activities.
A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 19, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Beardstown with burial at Beardstown City Cemetery. Family will meet friends one hour prior to services at the church. Due to the current health situation, the family ask that masks be worn and all social distancing guidelines be followed.
