Mike Jamison

Theodore Michael “Mike” Jamison, 80, Springfield, and formerly of Beardstown, died at 12:03 p.m. Saturday, May 28, 2022 at his residence with his beloved wife by his side.

He was born September 22, 1941 in Beardstown, the son of Vernon Theodore and Ruth Leona Anderson Jamison.  He married Bonnie K. Mauney on April 6, 1991 at the Lakeside Christian Church in Springfield, and she survives.

Mike worked for 30 years for both Illinois Bell and AT&T as an instructor and maintenance engineer, retiring in December, 1989.

He graduated from Beardstown High School with the class of 1959, where he was known as an excellent athlete.

He was an avid golfer who loved all sports and he happily passed this enthusiasm on to his family.  He truly enjoyed attending his children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews many sporting events.  Mike had a great sense of humor with a contagious smile and always loved telling a good joke or story. He was a devoted family man who cherished the time he spent with his family and friends.  Mike never knew a stranger and will be forever loved and missed by all who knew him.

Survivors also include daughters, Kerry(Harry) Morris of Piedmont, South Carolina and Polly (Marvin) Marzolph of Orange Park, Florida;  step-daughter, Sheila Mauney of Springfield;  grandchildren, Crissy (Richard) Freeman and Jami Morris,  all of Piedmont, South Carolina, Sandi (Tyrone) Morris Smith of Mableton, Georgia, Austin Marzolph of Jacksonville, Florida, Braden Mauney of St. Louis, Missouri and Blake Mauney of Springfield.  great grandchildren, Jamison and Samuel Freeman and William Mauney;  brother, Joe (Judy) Jamison of Corydon, Indiana;  sisters, Susan Hendricker of Mt. Sterling, and Linda (Don) Buck of Jerseyville. Sisters-in-law, Cheryl Simonson of Springfield, and Pam Boll of Virden, also survive along with many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister in infancy.

Cremation has been accorded and a Celebration of Life Luncheon will be held at 12:00 p.m on Saturday, July 23, 2022 at the Springfield V.F.W. Post # 755 located at 2211 Old Jacksonville Road in Springfield.

Memorials are suggested to SIU Foundation for Alzheimer’s Research and may be left at or mailed to the Hendricker Funeral Home, 406 South Capitol Avenue, Mt. Sterling, Illinois 62353.
