Mary Francis Morris, 72, of Beardstown died Tuesday, Dec. 8, 2020, at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.
She was born Nov. 8, 1948, in Rushville, the daughter of David and Velvia Jennings Stambaugh. She married Howard Morris and he preceded her in death in July of 1993.
She is survived by a daughter, Starla (husband Jeremy) Swan of Beardstown; four sons, Jim (wife Carri) Morris of Cambria, Steve Morris of Herrin, Chris Morris of Beardstown, and Gregg Morris of Colp; her step-daughter, Alberta (husband Chuck) Glascock of Beardstown; 16 grandchildren, James, Tionna, Colton, and Laney Morris, Krystal and Kyle Myers, Tonya and Zak Danner, Kassandra Mansfield, Justice, Drake, and Lyric Wrobleski, Lilly and Rylee Swan, Christopher Klassen, and Alaina Crews; numerous great-grandchildren; two sisters, Bessie (deceased husband Frank) Chestnut of Hannibal and Connie (deceased husband Junior) Durell of Beardstown; one brother, David (wife June) Stambaugh of Moline; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a grandson Trever Wrobleski, two sisters, Jennie (deceased husband Guy) Stambaugh and Norma (deceased husband Bernard) Coil, and three brothers, John, Dannie, and Richard Stambaugh.
Mary attended Rushville School. She has always been a caregiver and it was her passion. She raised five children, she cared for her husband when he had a stroke, and up until she was no longer able to work, she cared for many elderly and disabled people.
Mary enjoyed working in her flower beds, collecting dish towels, and taking pictures as long as she was not in them. Most of the time she might agree with you, even though she never heard what you said, and she was thankful that her sister Connie would help her watch her card while playing Bingo.
Mary’s life was her family. She cherished her time spent down south with her family and her son’s dog Poe. She absolutely loved not only her children, grand and great-grandchildren, but she loved everyone else’s too. She went to every sporting event even if she didn’t know what was going on or where her baby was playing on the field. Mary gave the best hugs and you never left without getting one.
Graveside services will be held at noon Monday, Dec. 14, at Beardstown City Cemetery. There will be a 15-minute viewing at the cemetery prior to the services. Colwell Memorial Home in Beardstown is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials have been suggested to Colwell Memorial Home. Condolences may be left online at www.colwellmemorialhome.com or on Facebook at Colwell Memorial Home.
