Marjorie A. Thrush Schnake, 89, rural Arenzville/Beardstown, died Thursday morning, December 23, 2021 at her home.
She was born October 8, 1932 in Raritan, the daughter of Lloyd and Icel Thrush. She married Marvin M. Schnake on January 26, 1952 in Raritan and he preceded her in death on November 7, 2005. Following her marriage, she lived in California with her husband (who was in the service) until he shipped out to Korea. The rest of her life she lived in the Arenzville community where she farmed with her husband.
Surviving are three children: Marcia (David) Trauernicht of Rochester, NY, Martin Schnake, of rural Beardstown and Marcie Schnake of Jacksonville; several cousins, a sister-in-law, nephews and a niece. Preceding her in death were her parents and two siblings.
Marjorie attended Raritan School and graduated from Media High School where she was an honor student. She also attended Western Illinois University in Macomb. She was a member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church where she was active as a Sunday school/Bible school teacher, member of the church choir and the women’s groups of Anna Garten Circle and W.E.L.C.A. For many years she served as an election judge for Hagener Township. Marjorie also served as a 4-H leader in Cass County. She enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, music, her family and many family pets. She was a loving wife, mother, daughter and friend.
A funeral service was held Wednesday, December 29, 2021 at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Arenzville with burial at St. Peter’s Lutheran Cemetery. Family met friends one hour prior to services at the church.
