Marilyn Jeanette Petersen

Marilyn Jeanette Petersen, 97, Davenport, IA, died peacefully on July 29, 2022.

She was born May 25, 1925 in rural Harrison County, Iowa to William H. and Ella A.(Juels) Boeck. She married Warren K. Petersen on February 6, 1946, and he preceded her in death.

She is survived by her children; Patricia (Terry) Goser, Rochester, MN, and William (Janet) Petersen, Beardstown; five grandchildren, Will (Mary Ellen) Petersen, Karl (Tammee) Petersen, Wells (Katie) Petersen, Sarah Gonser Waller and Rebecca Gosner; seven great grandchildren and her sister, Marjaleen Soehl.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents and her sister, Madaline Boeck Eichhorn.

She lived most of her life in Davenport until 1966 when she moved to Beardstown where Warren was transferred to help build and operate the new Oscar Mayer plant. While in Beardstown, she was involved in the gift shop for Beardstown Hospital, was city treasurer, a Cass County delegate in 1978 at the state Republican Convention, assisted with many bazaars at her church, worked in real estate with Sudbrink’s for several years and many other special projects.

Upon retirement, she and Warren traveled south each winter. They eventually returned to Davenport to spend several years in Ridgecrest Retirement Village.

Burial was with her husband, Warren, at the Rock Island National Cemetery.

Memorials are suggested to First Evangelical Lutheran Church, 301 W. 4th Street, Beardstown.
