LLCC Community Education offers Civil War trip featuring Illinois historical sites

    Lincoln Land Community College’s Community Education Department is offering a trip to Civil War sites in Illinois this spring. Hosts for the trip are John and Jeannie Alexander and the Macoupin County Civil War Round Table.
    “Illinois Home Front and the Civil War” is a four-day, three-night excursion from Thursday, May 14 to Sunday, May 17. Participants will learn from experts about the Illinois home front during the Civil War. Trip highlights include the Arsenal Museum, Confederate Cemetery and Deere-Wiman Home in Rock Island, the Ulysses Grant Home and other historical sites in Galena and a stop at Starved Rock State Park. Tours, speakers and free time are scheduled.
