Jonah:Unexpected success

“And the people of Nineveh believed God.” Jonah 3:5

During the month of September, this Focus on Faith column is taking a devotional walk through the Biblical book of Jonah. Each week focuses on one chapter of the book.

Last week Jonah prayed from the belly of the fish. Despite being at a low point in his life, he thanked God for all the good that God had done.

Now, in chapter 3, God repeats his instructions to Jonah, “Get up, go to Nineveh, that great city, and proclaim to it the message that I tell you.” (Jonah 3:1) The first time that Jonah was told to go to Nineveh, he fled in the other direction which led to a storm and to him being swallowed by a big fish. Now that Jonah is out of the fish, God repeats his command. &nbsp;&nbsp;<ahref=""><spanstyl... 13px; color: rgb(0, 0, 0);">To view more, please log in or subscribe to the digital edition.</span></a></p>
