Focus on Faith
The Bible has the distinction of being one of the best-known yet least-understood books in human history. Indeed, the Bible can be daunting. It is enormous; it is ancient; its original manuscripts were written in ancient languages. It’s full of hard-to-pronounce names and places. It can be difficult to interpret it for our time and place in history. I could go on, but I think you catch my drift…the Bible is HARD!
I am fascinated by the sheer number of volumes that have been written to help people, in different places and times in history, understand the complexities of the Bible. Many of these volumes are written by scholars and pastors who have devoted years to study. Some of the volumes are large and sometimes even more complicated than the Bible itself. Some have names such as The Bible for Dummies or The Idiot’s Guide to the Bible.
