Agape can conquer all

“This is how we have come to know love: He laid down his life for us. We should also lay down our lives for our brothers and sisters.” 1 John 3:16

The message of God’s love is not a new message, but for many it is a truth that is yet to be discovered. Even those who have experienced the transformation of God’s love must rediscover, at times, its redemptive and restorative power. But that is the wonder of God’s love: it is abundant, it is everlasting, and it is always sufficient. It was because of this love that God sent His Son to this earth. It was in and for this love that Christ died for our sins. And now, this love has become our purpose and our mission. We are called to love – to love God and love others – and to do it by imitating Christ. This love, friends, is the foundation of the Christian faith, and the fundamental element of holiness.

Unfortunately, since the beginning, there has been a formidable force that rises up against love. That force is evil. I always say we don’t have to look hard to find evil or the effects of evil in the world. Truly, all we have to look at is ourselves. The fact remains that we have all sinned and we have all fallen short of the glory of God (Romans 5:8). &nbsp;&nbsp;<ahref="http://etypeservices.com/Cass%20County%20Star%20GazetteID497/"><spanstyl... 13px; color: rgb(0, 0, 0);">To view more, please log in or subscribe to the digital edition.</span></a></p>
