Supporting local meal programs

I believe most readers are aware of the fact that the Governor and the Illinois General Assembly have failed to pass a state budget. What you may not realize is how serious this unfortunate situation has become. Perhaps the most devastating problem is that  federal funding to feed seniors is available, but is being held hostage for political leverage.
Bread of Love and Meals on Wheels programs have been forced to reduce their valuable services statewide for Senior Citizens. For example, Beardstown meals for seniors are no longer being distributed on Tuesdays and they are only able to provide a brown bag lunch on Fridays. Beginning Nov. 1, they will be forced to eliminate meal delivery as well. If the continuing budget feud is not resolved soon, you can be sure additional cuts will be unavoidable.
