Military Support Group seeks donations

Editor:
As many of you may know, the Franklin Waverly Military Support group continues to send boxes to the deployed soldiers each month. As the holiday season fast approaches we are in need of help. We are low on funds as well as items to send. At this time we are mailing to 82 soldiers at a cost of $13.45 for postage, plus we are buying the items to fill the boxes. We are rather frugal shoppers and buy as cheaply as we can. We are asking for donations of food items as well as toiletries. Smaller sizes are best, and some of the items the soldiers like are jerky, snack foods (sweet or salty), popcorn, canned meats, fruit, pudding, and gum. Toiletry items they use are q-tips, cotton balls, toothpicks, aspirin, deodorant, tooth paste, toothbrushes, shampoo, shower soap, lotion, batteries, cough drops, etc. We are always in need of men’s magazines, and paperback books. Cash is always appreciated.
