Growing up in Hog Ward, children used to play outside; not so anymore

    I set out on the front steps today with “Odie” my little dog. It was a warm and sunny Sunday afternoon, and even had a little breeze to make it a really good day after the several days of 90 and 100 degree weather.
    But something was missing. Where were the people? Where were the kids? Instead of saying, “Beardstown, where did you go?” I was saying, “Neighbors, friends, and kids; where did you go?”

In the last few years, the phrase “fake news” has worked its way into our vocabulary. It is a phrase used to describe information that is accepted as fact by some but disbelieved by others.
