Food Pantry takes on Spring Challenge

Editor:
Please join us in the fight against hunger.
Normally at this time of year, the Cass County Food Pantry would be participating in the Feinstein Challenge to increase awareness of hunger and to raise funds for the purchase of food for those who require assistance in providing this basic need. However, Alan Shawn Feinstein is concentrating on their school program this year as there has been a growing need for this program.
Therefore, the Cass County Food Pantry is still in need of this annual fundraiser, so we are having our own fundraiser this year that we are calling the Spring Challenge. The program will work the same as in the past, except we will not receive a small percentage of matching funds from Alan Shawn Feinstein. All the money collected will be used to feed the needy in Cass County. Our goal is to raise $40,000 in cash and food donations during the months of April and May. This goal was achieved last year, so we know it can be done again this year as well. Without this funding, we would have a big hole in our budget and less food would be available to distribute.
Donations can include cash, checks, food items, and pledges received between April 1 - May 31. Please mail or bring your donations to Cass County Food Pantry, 210 S. Main, Virginia, IL 62691. You may contact our coordinator Joanne Anderson at 217-473-5638 if you wish to have your food items picked up.
