Beardstown has changed over the years

Beardstown was growing and the people began to look for fun things to do.
Thomas Beard decided to have our first Thanksgiving in 1845. He had it at his house and invited lots of family and friends. Yes, they had turkey and lots with it. They spent the day visiting and playing games. Besides this, he had the first farm here. This all started fun days. In 1893 we had a fish fry (the first records show) up town and gave fish, bread, and butter. Again people came to eat, visit, and play games.
This started people wanting more, so parades were added; later boat races, ball games, and activities for everyone. In 1929 it was our centennial so lots was going on. We were 100 years old.
