Angel Tree thanks the community

Editor:
Another successful year has come to a close for the Beardstown Angel Tree, which is sponsored by the Beardstown Emblem Club.  The Club would like to thank the community for its support, for this truly is a community endeavor. This year,  as in many years past, we helped over 300 children in the Beardstown School District, ages 0 to 5th grade, to receive  a gift to open  for the Christmas holiday. We would like to thank Flowers Collision for allowing space for our workshop, the businesses that allowed us to display our Angel Trees, and also the  local churches and businesses where  we  accepted donations of socks, underwear and pajamas. We include those items, along with new toothbrushes that are generously donated by both local dentists, in the gift bags that are purchased by members of the community, and those bags are then distributed to selected children. The format has changed some over the years and members of the Committee would welcome the opportunity to come speak at Club or church meetings to get our message out.  The need has grown over the years and the Emblem Club would welcome financial assistance or help from area clubs, churches and organizations. Please contact one of the following if you’d like us to make a brief presentation at your organization’s meeting: Beth Miller, Connie Starkey, Megan Zimny, or Carol Robeson, or email the club at beardstownemblemclub@outlook.com.
    Thank you.
