The absence of formal handwriting

Editor:
Salute School Board.
As you may recall, at the beginning of the school year, I sent a letter expressing my surprise and disappointment in learning that cursive writing is no longer taught in our schools. This letter was also printed in the local paper, and to the best of my knowledge, this letter was not replied to in the paper, and I never received a reply in the mail. Now that I know who some of you are, I am a bit surprised that someone of the “Old School” education system did not have the courtesy to respond.
As I said before, I am angry at myself for being GRUBER stupid for so many years. But I was slapped awake by the events of 9/11/2001. Because of what happened on that day, I ended up in Iraq working for our military, which at that time was the greatest on the planet. I had heard things in the past about our schools being dumbed down, but after learning my grandkids are not able to read or write in cursive, I believe that it is a fact. I am aware of the fact that computers are the future, but is keyboarding going to be dropped after computers can respond solely to voice commands? I don’t know who the Genius Authorities were that made the grand decision that Formal Handwriting Skills are no longer needed for this reason, but they are wrong. Getting a Ph.D. diploma does not come along with wisdom, common sense, or courage. I have come to conclude that in many cases, Ph.D. does mean Piled Higher and Deeper. Well-educated con-artist.
