‘Lost in the Fifties Tonight’ event

The great class of 1956 would like to welcome the Class of 2016 into our own BHS Alumni! We were once in similar shoes as you, eagerly looking towards the future.
Over sixty years ago, we had Beard, Central, and Washington Grade Schools, Lutheran and Brick Schools merging into Lincoln Junior High School for seventh and eighth grades with the four years of high school at Beardstown High School.
Our freshman year (1952), we were 124 “Freshies.” Remember the chant, “Freshies, Freshies, green as grass, always asking, ‘Where’s my class?’” We might have been green as grass, but we left our mark in Sports in 1973. Midwest Conference Baseball Champions, Central Conference Baseball Second Place, Track Relay Team - 880 Yard Relay First Place (relay team: Summey, Vancil, Bingham, and Schultz).
We graduated 88 seniors in a town of 6,000 that had beautifully tree-lined brick streets with over 150 businesses. In 2016, we have 56 graduates still living. What memories, those wonderful photographs of the mind, never dimming nor losing their lustre!
