Leo Roy “Bud” Carlock, 87, Bluff Springs, died Sunday, January 22, 2023, at his residence.
He was born October 23, 1935, in Mason County, the son of Arnold and Jessie Blair Carlock. He made his home with Ray and Margaret (Oleson) Matthews of Beardstown. He married Beverly Moeller on May 18, 1957, at First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Beardstown, and she survives.
Bud graduated from Beardstown High School and then joined the United States Army and was honorably discharged. He worked for the Bluff Springs Elevator, Oscar Meyer, Excel, and Cargill until his retirement.
Bud was a member of Cass Lodge #23, Honorary member of Chandlerville Lodge #724 and Virginia Lodge #544, Valley of Springfield Scottish Rite 32*, Ansar Shrine, Ansar Past Master, Ansar Legion of Honor, Illinois Valley Shrine Club, Keystone Cops, Beardstown Elks Lodge #1007 and Guthrie Pierce Post #1239.
He is survived by his wife Beverly of Bluff Springs; daughters Brenda (Lacy) Hall of Logansport, Indiana, Bobette (David) Robertson of Bluff Springs, and Beth (Travis) Phelps of Rushville; nine grandchildren, Brian (Kirsten) Collison of Alexandria, Virginia, Marc (Jen) Collison of Charlevoix, Michigan, Sara (Jason) Whitis of Rushville, Jonathan Hall of Flanagan, Katherine (Alex) Phillips of Ash Grove, Missouri, Emily (Matthew) Brant of Willard, Missouri, Cyrus Robertson of Bluff Springs, Paige Phelps of Springfield, and Jonah Phelps of Rushville; and ten great-grandchildren. He is also survived by siblings Jim (Jean) Carlock, Shirley (Don) Cooper, and Dorothy Schultz.
Masonic rites will be held, and Military Honors will be accorded at 2 p.m. on Saturday, January 28, 2023, at Sager Funeral Home in Beardstown. The family will meet friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Private interment will be at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Cass Lodge #23 Scholarship Fund, Ansar Shrine, VFW Scholarship, or Elks National Foundation.
