Flying the flag with pride

    Though there are no legal penalties for violating the U.S. Flag Code, citizens have a patriotic duty to observe the code. Let’s consider a few key elements of the code.
    Other flags on same staff: The Flag Code states: “Advertising signs should not be fastened to a staff or halyard from which the flag is flown.” Thus, flags promoting products, events, political candidates and the like are not to be flown from the same staff or halyard. State flags, historical flags and such may be flown from the same staff.
