A dab of Brylcreem and a tank of Ethyl

    Our recent column regarding the fate of Schlitz prompted numerous readers to ask about some of their favorite brands from way back when. We’ll consider a few this week.
    Brylcreem men’s hair goop originated in England way back in 1926, reaching its height of popularity in the 1950s and 60s. Sales were aided by advertising that featured a jingle that began with: “Brylcreem — A Little Dab’ll Do Ya!” Brylcreem and other male hair grooming products began to lose their luster when the dry look gained popularity in the 1970s. However, Brylcrem is still available and a dab’ll do ya!
