Kathleen Blair Bailey, Oakford, died on June 12, 2022 at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield. She was born October 23, 1946 in Springfield, Illinois to Elmer “Chalk” and Dorothy Mae (Blair) Lynn.
She married William (Bill) Bailey of Oakford, in a private ceremony at her parents’ home on December 14, 1970. In December 2020, they celebrated their 50th anniversary. He preceded her in death on September 15, 2021.
She is survived by her son, Bart (Becky) of Petersburg; two granddaughters, Brice and Bren Bailey, both of Petersburg; her step-mother, Ione Lynn; her sister-in-law, Mary Ann Duncheon (Jerry Behrens) of Oakford; her nieces, Julie (Roy) Cook and Phoebe Crowe; and her nephews, Matthew (Becky) Duncheon and Phil Thomas.
She grew up in Chandlerville, and graduated from Chandlerville High School in 1964. She continued her education after high school becoming an LPN. Many will remember her from her numerous years at the Menard Medical Center.
Kathleen had many loves, but the top of her list was her granddaughters. When she was able, she could be found in the bleachers cheering them on at volleyball and basketball games and on the golf course watching golf meets and the pool sideline for swim meets. She enjoyed many outings with them, and they have many fond memories of shopping trips and meals out with her. She had a knack for purchasing the most unique gifts for them and these have become some of their favorite treasures from her.
She enjoyed playing poker with friends, fishing and traveling to Las Vegas. Kathleen especially loved trips with her sister to visit her cousin, Gayle Capper.
Per Kathleen’s wishes, cremation rites will be accorded and there will be no formal services.
Memorials may be made to the Porta High School Girls Golf Team, Attn: Andy Bierman, 17651 Owens Avenue, Petersburg, Illinois 62675.
