John W. Utter, 87, Salina, KS, died Thursday, September 22, 2022.

He was born in Beardstown to Roy and Ethel (Buescher) Utter, on June 3, 1935. He worked as a department store manager for Kline’s for over 42 years, in Salina from 1976 through 1995 when the store closed.

He is survived by his wife, Katie; children, Ron Utter, of Peoria, Tim Utter, of Lawrence, KS, Steve Utter, of Springfield, MO, and Susan Novak, of Dennison, TX; step-children, Jennifer Simoneu (Don), of Salina, Melissa Baker  (Jeff), of Cypress TX, and Darrin Duff (LaRae), of Wichita; four grandchildren; eight step-grandchildren; and one sister, Patricia Harris of Ashland, IL.

He is preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Donald Utter and one sister, Delores Hoffman.

Private graveside services are planned at Gypsum Hill Cemetery.
