John Douglas Schnake, 58, of Arenzville, died Wednesday, August 18, 2021 at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.
He was born September 16, 1962, in White Hall, the son of Leland “Pete” and Alice Lou Virgin Schnake.
He is survived by two daughters, Shannon (Steve) Mayes of St. Genevieve, MO and Jonnie (Myron) Jackson of Arenzville; one son, Dylan (Tyson) Lotz of St. Louis; mother, Alice Lou Schnake Gramann of Beardstown; seven grandchildren, Dalton, Will, Kris, Mika’el, Nahshon, Myia and Eliah; several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews; one brother, Bill (Christine) Schnake of Springfield; and three sisters, Vonnie Tucker and Rhonda Miller, both of Quincy and Billie Herder of Mississippi. He was preceded in death by his father, Pete; and one sister, Melody Petty.
Mr. Schnake was a 1980 graduate of Beardstown High School. He owned and operated JDS Trucking Company in Rushville, then was employed by local FS facilities and Rich Lumber in Beardstown. John had a love for music and playing the drums. He enjoyed assisting his brother with sound and lighting for Schnake Sound, Inc.
