Glenda L. Hunter, 82, of Beardstown and formerly of Jacksonville, died Sunday, Dec. 6, 2020, at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield.
She was born Dec. 11, 1937, the daughter of Ross Sr. and Evelyn Holmes Hancock. She married James Wesley Hunter Sr. in 1955 and he preceded her in death on Jan. 16, 1973.
She is survived by three daughters and two sons, Brenda (Calvin) Anderson, Linda (Gene) Griffin, James Hunter Jr., and Robert Hunter, all of Beardstown, and Judith K. Hellman of Tyler, TX; 13 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren with one on the way; and one sister, Dorothy (Ken) Slater.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and two sons, Joseph Wesley Hunter Sr., and Charles Robert Hunter (surviving wife Jamie of Mt. Carmel).
Mrs. Hunter was a certified nursing assistant in several area nursing homes. She enjoyed her flowers and taking walks, and especially enjoyed time spent with her family.
A graveside funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Jacksonville East Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the American Heart Association.
