Only 60 years ago

    Flipping through the pages of the Oct. 14, 1957 edition of Life magazine, one likely will not be surprised by brands that have vanished. What may come as a surprise is just how many brands have survived to this day.
    There was the venerable A&P, the nation’s leading grocer. A&P, which was celebrating its 98th anniversary in 1957, touted its line of A&P Coffee which included Eight O’Clock, Red Circle and Bokar. After years of decline, A&P was liquidated in 2015. Nonetheless, the highly rated Eight O’Clock Coffee brand lives on.
