Fred David “Smitty” Smith, 70 Beardstown, died Thursday, May 13, 2021 at his home.  
    He was born October 17, 1950, the son of Fred and Melva Gene Settles Smith. He married Bunita Sue “Bunnie” Smith on June 5, 1971 in Beardstown, and she preceded him in death on August 30, 2018.
    He is survived by two children, Nichola Sue (companion, Shane Price) Smith and David Smith, both of Beardstown; three grandchildren, Abbie May Price (companion, Davis Bader), Michael David Smith, and Mikayla Martina Smicompanion, Adam Petri); two great grandchildren, Aliviah Alexandra Lynn Petri and Llewyn Wilton Bader; four sisters, Shirley (husband, Lynn) Smith, Janet (husband, Alfred) Richards, Judy Allen, and Barbara Collins; and one brother, Steve (wife, Kathy) Smith.
    He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, a sister, Dorothy Richards, and a brother, Jim Smith.
    Graveside memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 19, 2021 at Beardstown City Cemetery. There will be no visitation. Colwell Memorial Home in Beardstown is in charge of arrangements.
