Enjoying fireworks on Independence Day

The small towns and all of the large cities across the country will be celebrating our country’s birthday on Saturday. There will be about a trillion dollars worth of fireworks shot off and it is a guess that they all came from China. My history lesson told me that on July 4, 1776 was when the Declaration of Independence from Great Britain was first published.
Thomas Jefferson and John Adams were two of the original signers of the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776. As a matter of note, exactly fifty years later on July 4, 1826, both men died.
John Adams being in Phidelphia, and away from home during the days that the Declaration of Independence was being discussed, wrote a letter on July 3, 1776, telling how July 4 would be celebrated in the future years. The letter was to his wife Abigail in which he wrote that there would be pomp and parades, shows and games, sports, guns, bells, bonfires and illuminations throughout the United States. Not a bad prophet.
