Ellen Louise Brooks, 78, Beardstown, died Monday, June 7, 2021 at Sarah D. Culbertson Hospital in Rushville.
    She was born July 3, 1942, in Rock Island, the daughter of Allen Douglas and Esther Alexander Gustafson, Sr.  
    She is survived by her son, William “Willie” Brooks (companion Kim Trip) of Versailles; two daughters, Beth (husband Joe) Fosterling,  Moline and Cathy Segura of Texas; four grandchildren, Katie Gordon of Camp Point, Timothy Brooks (companion Megan Moore) of Nebo, Hailey Brooks of Versailles, and Andrew Fosterling; five great grandchildren, Madisyn and Jordyn Kunkel of Camp Point and Kaydence, Charles, and Adley Brooks of Nebo; two sisters, Grace (deceased husband Karl) James of Oklahoma and Margaret Elizabeth of Dearing; four brothers, Robert (wife Georgie) Gustafson of Ripley, Steven (wife Janelle) Gustafson of Beardstown, Michael (wife Jessie) Gustafson of Rushville, and James (wife Sheila) Gustafson of Alton.
    She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister Judith (surviving husband Bill) Lisenbee; and two brothers Allen Jr and Charles Gustafson.  
    She graduated from Brown County High School. She worked in housekeeping and as a CNA at Walker Nursing Home and retired from Barry Community Nursing Home in 1999. She enjoyed crosswords, puzzles and playing bingo. She had a special bond with her brother, Steven, and beloved fur friend, Lizzy. Her time was most fondly spent with her family and grandkids. She will be missed by all those who loved her most.  
    Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, June 10, 2021, at Colwell Memorial Home in Beardstown. Burial will be in Palm Cemetery in Rushville. The family will meet with friends from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Thursday at the memorial home.
