Elizabeth Kay Thomas

Elizabeth Kay Thomas, 72, of Virginia, IL, died Friday. Apr. 16, 2021, at her home.

She was born Dec. 5, 1948, in Chicago, the daughter of Richard and Joyce Bloomstrom Gaddis. She married Steven Thomas on Apr. 8, 1993, in Virginia, and he survives.

She is also survived by two daughters and one son, Lori (Jeff) Young of Carrollton, Mathew (Tonya) Unland of Beardstown, and Kelly (Wes) Snow of Virginia; four grandchildren, Kylee Arenz, Austin Unland, and Garrett and Ryan Snow; two great grandchildren, Kellen and Jade Arenz; one brother, Richard Gaddis of Oquawka; and one sister, Susan (Jim) Wiegard of Burlington, IA. She was preceded in death by her parents; one son in infancy, Timothy Unland; and two grandsons, Derek Snow and Wyatt Snow.

After her birth in Chicago, Kay’s family relocated to Burlington, IA. She then moved to Beardstown, IL, where she raised her children. She later moved to Virginia. She enjoyed her little dog, Shelby, raising horses, bird and deer watching, and planting flowers and working in her yard. Kay’s greatest love was spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren, and attending any events they were involved in. Her daily conversations, wit, and wisdom will be greatly missed.
