Dwight Leon Bennett

    Dwight Leon Bennett, 83, Pawnee, died at 11:45 a.m. on Friday, August 13, 2021 at Taylorville Care Center, Taylorville.
    He was born on October 15, 1937 in Macomb, to Clarence Bennett and Mary (Winters) Bennett.
    He married Nancy (Fairchild-Bennett) Steel of Winchester, in 1959, who survives along with joint surviving child, Roy Bennett and his wife, Laura (Baker) Bennett of New Albany, Indiana; two granddaughters, Brittany Bennett with great grandchildren, Savana Bennett and Caydence (C.J.) Bennett of New Albany, Indiana; and Bridgette Bennett with great grandchild, Jaxon Bennett of Sellersburg, Indiana and other joint surviving child, Shirley (Bennett) Lotz and her husband, Joseph Lotz along with three grandchildren, Naomi Lotz, Sarah Lotz and Dallas Lotz of Pawnee.
    He was preceded in death by his parents, his second wife, Byrel (Parks-Leach) Bennett; his third wife, Aileen “Dib” (Fritz-Large-Lane) Bennett, and a son, David Bennett.
    He has two surviving step-children through his marriage to Byrel Bennett, Loawana Leach of Jacksonville, and Robert Leach, Sr. of Industry; grandchildren, Sonya (Leach) Danielson and her husband, Larry (Roy) Danielson; great grandchildren, Royce Danielson and Riley Danielson of Henderson, Nevada; and Robert (Bobby) Leach, Jr. and great grandchild, Maile Seguin of Henderson, Nevada.
    He was a graduate of Industry High School in 1956 and later studied at Western Illinois University in Macomb. He owned a gas station, car repair, and wrecker service under the Sinclair Industries brand in both Industry and Plymouth, before working 26 years as a machinist at NTN Bowers in Macomb where he eventually retired.
    Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, August 28, 2021 at Littleton Community Cemetery, Littleton, with the Reverend Dan Colvin officiating. There will be no visitation.
    The family requests in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Scotland Trinity Presbyterian Church.
