Drumline to kick off Prairie Skies summer program

    The Prairie Skies Public Library District in Ashland and Pleasant Plains is kicking off the 2015 summer reading program, “Read to the Rhythm,” with performances by the Pulse of Peoria Drumline on June 8.
    This group of middle school and high school students, who use the drum line to express values of hard work and community service, will be getting the rhythm of the summer off to an exciting start.
    They will be at the Prairie Skies Public Library District’s main location at 125 W. Editor in Ashland at 10 a.m. and then at the branch location at 555 Buckeye Rd. in Pleasant Plains at 1 p.m.
    The program is free and all are welcome.
“Thunder Medicine”
    “Thunder Medicine” will be at the Prairie Skies Public Library Main location in Ashland June 15 at 10 a.m.
    Larry Lockwood is from the Northern Cheyenne Nation and will be doing a Native American drum, song, dance, and storytelling program for all to enjoy. Also, a Navajo cultural table will be featured by Regina Tsosie. Come learn some old rhythms to enjoy.  The programs are 10 a.m. at 125 West Editor Ashland, and at 1 p.m. at 555 Buckeye Road Pleasant Plains.
