Doris L. Stephens, 81, Springfield, formerly of Beardstown, died  July 15, 2021 at Concordia Village in Springfield.
    She was born August 18, 1939, in Winchester, the daughter of E.P. “Bud” and Edna Jane (Morgan) Stephens.
    She is survived by a niece, Janet Lynn (Stephens) Bentler of Springfield and a nephew, Robert John Stephens of Bolingbrook.         
    She was preceded in death by her companion of 18 years, Dr. Arthur G. Hyde in 1997; her brother, Robert Milton Stephens in 2008; and her parents.
    Ms. Stephens was a member of the Beardstown High School class of 1957, she graduated from Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in 1960 and St. Francis College in Joliet with a B.S. in 1978. She was a life-time member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Beardstown. She dedicated her life to nursing, beginning her career at Schmidt Memorial Hospital in Beardstown from 1960 to 1971; then retiring as an Administrative Supervisor in 1998 from Memorial Medical Center, Springfield, after 24 years of service.
    Funeral services will be held at noon, Thursday, July 22, 2021 at Sager Funeral Home in Beardstown with burial at Beardstown City Cemetery. Family will meet friends from 11 a.m. until time of services at the funeral home.
