Don Carls Piper

    Don Carls Piper, 82, Beardstown, died Wednesday, August 18, 2021 at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.  
    He was born August 23, 1938 in Beardstown, the son of Melvin “Bud” and Dorothea Carls Piper. He married Connie Brown on August 23, 1969 and she survives in Beardstown.
    He is also survived by his two children, Andrea (husband Travis) Schroll of Beardstown and William “Bill” Piper (wife Adriana Romàn Muñiz) of Springfield; and a grandson Jakobi Schroll.
    He was preceded in death by his parents, his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Robert and Iva Brown, and a special uncle and aunt Art and Edna Crumrin.
    He graduated from Beardstown High School in the class of 1956 and then received his Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture from Western Illinois University in 1963. He was a life-long farmer who enjoyed genealogy, Civil War History, and The Wild West. Throughout his years, Don’s hobbies included collecting antique tractors, classic cars, and rescuing dogs. He attended both Bethel Church of the Nazarene and Life Family Church. He had a strong faith and unconditional love for his family.  
    Funeral services were held Saturday, August 21, 2021 at Colwell Memorial Home in Beardstown, with Pastor Joe Thomas and Pastor Brandon Thompson officiating. Burial was in St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery in Beardstown.
