Delores “Dee” R. Looker, 92, died Thursday, December 29, 2022, at Jacksonville Memorial Hospital.

She was born on July 23, 1930, in Beardstown, the daughter of Andrew and Lottie Vincent McGovern. She married Billy Van Looker on November 4, 1949, and he preceded her in death on May 1, 2005.

She is survived by  children: Steve Looker, of Beardstown, Becky (Kenny) Merriman, Beardstown, Dottie Chilton, Medford, OR; grandchildren, Mike Chilton, IL, Vanessa (Jose) Ramirez, OR, Stephanie Looker, Beardstown, Willy (Briar Gregerson) Looker,  Browning, Mickey (Laci) Looker, Chapin, Danah (Roy) Hurst, MS, Dustin (Mattie) Looker, Beardstown, Tyler (Carolina) Looker, Beardstown, Scott Sutherland, of TX, Sarah (Matt) O’hara, Beardstown, Travis (Tina) Merriman, Beardstown, Katie (Zach) Ring, Virginia; numerous great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband Billy Van, she was preceded in death by sons, Tim Looker, Tom Looker; five brothers, one sister; daughter-in-law: Mary Looker; and son-in-law: Bobby Chilton.

Dee graduated from Beardstown High School in 1948. She and Billy Van owned and operated The Nook in Beardstown for 28 years. She especially enjoyed spending time with Billy Van and their family at the Looker Farm. Her family continued to take her to the family farm after Billy Van’s passing.

Visitation was held from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m., on Tuesday, January 3, 2023, at Sager Funeral Home. A funeral service was held at 11:00 a.m., on Wednesday, January 4, 2023, at the funeral home. Burial immediately followed at the Beardstown City Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Cass County Food Pantry or Cass- Schuyler Area Hospice. It was requested that those who attended the services, wear Dee’s favorite color purple.
