She was born August 12, 1957 in Beardstown, the daughter of James Newton and Nellie Fritz Brewer. She married her high school sweetheart, John Swan, on July 12, 1975 at Beardstown Church of the Nazarene.

She is survived by her husband, John Swan of Beardstown; two daughters, Laura (husband Gary) Kearns and Christy Swan (companion Martin Figueroa), both of Beardstown; six grandchildren McKaylee, Kyndall, John, Khloe, Sofia, and Kalin; two sisters, Patsy Knouse and Margie Graham, both of Beardstown; three brothers, Jimmy (wife Elsie) Brewer of Beardstown, Larry (wife Patty) Brewer of Beardstown, and Tony Brewer of Arkansas; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Debbie attended Beardstown Schools. She received her Certified Nursing Assistant’s degree and worked at Sarah D. Culbertson Memorial Hospital in Rushville until her arthritis no longer allowed. Debbie’s life revolved around her family and she found joy in keeping a clean and tidy home for them. She liked to dance and listen to country music, especially when her nephews were jamming. Debbie and John were inseparable. They raised horses together, enjoyed traveling with family, attending rodeos, and seeing the lights in Las Vegas. She never missed a Hallmark or Lifetime movie while enjoying a before bedtime sweet treat. Debbie lived for her grandchildren, hardly ever missed their activities and she never lost sight of her faith. Her contagious smile will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
