David Wesley Glick, of Chandlerville, died on January 6, 2022, at 8:30 p.m. at Memorial Hospital in Springfield.
He was born December 26, 1947 in Jacksonville, to Arthur Wesley and Norma Jean Waddell Glick. David grew up in Chandlerville, and graduated from Chandlerville High School in 1966. He proudly served in the United States Marine Corp from January 1967 to April 1970 and was a two-tour veteran of the Vietnam War. He was a proud supporter of all veterans and a member of the American Legion Post #694 since 1973. He was a lifetime member of the Operating Engineers Local 965 where he had 31 years of active service. He married Penny Mae Thomas of Oakford, in a private ceremony in Westfield, Massachusetts on July 13, 1971. In July 2021 they celebrated their 50th anniversary.
David was most comfortable outdoors and enjoyed hunting and animals. The “Glick Ranch” was home to more than a few “pets” some of which included dogs, cats, chickens, ducks, turkeys, bunnies, goats, sheep, cows, “Arnold” the pot-bellied pig and a horse. He enjoyed a good time and had a little pirate in him which he liked to exercise traveling, especially to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico.
David is survived by his wife Penny; his children Becky (Bart) Bailey of Petersburg; Jake (Haley) Glick of Athens; and Sarah (Chris) Stone of Chandlerville. He is also survived by ten grandchildren including seven granddaughters, Emma Stone, Brice and Bren Bailey, Halle, Mazie, Mylah and Georgia Glick, as well as three grandsons, Drew Stone, Hank and Jed Glick.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 12th from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Lintner-Hurley Funeral Home in Chandlerville. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 13th at 11 a.m. with burial at Chandlerville Cemetery. Pastor Gary Frank from the Athens Christian Church will officiate.
