Harold Stice seriously considered cancelling his family’s vacation to Can- cun. Even though they’d planned and saved for this trip for several years he contemplated sacrificing his earnest money at a hurtful loss and just stay- ing home. The Stices live in the coun- try a mile or so from any other house, and Harold had a great fear that leaving their own home unattended for ten days would practically be an invitation to any thief or miscreant.
