City’s new ordinance officer gets to work

At Tuesday night’s Beardstown City Council meeting, new ordinance officer Debbie Large presented the council with a report, stating that she has issued 74 red tags throughout town. Of these, 24 homes have complied, 3 have been issued citations, and 47 will be reviewed by the ordinance officer in the near future.
Reggie Benton of Benton and Associates addressed the council regarding the various grants his office has been pursuing on behalf of Beardstown to fix damaged streets and discussed the grant application process. Benton said that Beardstown is a good candidate for these grants. The damages being repaired currently date back to 2013, and there will likely be further damage from this year’s flood as well to be addressed at a later time.
