Tough loss for Tri-County 11/12 Little League Baseball

A tough 1 to 0 loss to Rushville eliminated the Tri-County Little League 11/12 year old baseball team from District play. They won their first game of the tourney 10 to 7 over Brown County, then fell to Beardstown 12 to 2 before the Rockets ended their postseason run.

Rushville eliminates Tiger Softball

Two losses to arch-rival Rushville ended the Beardstown 11/12 year old Little League Softball All-Star team’s tournament in district play in Rushville. The Tigers opened with an 11 to 10 win over Pike County before falling to Rushville 6 to 5.

BASA competes at State Track

Beardstown Area Special Athletes (BASA) competed this past weekend in Bloomington/Normal at the Special Olympics Illinois Summer Games 2025 with four competitors bringing home gold medals. Winning gold for BASA in the 400-meter walk (division 4) was Matthew Bradbury and Christopher Evans (division 5).

Two-time Champion Tri-County Thunder ready to defend title

The two-time defending Little League Senior Softball World Series Champion Tri-County Thunder District 17 Softball team will begin their title defense with state tournament play on Monday, July 7, at Rice Field in Beardstown. The Thunder will take on Kaneland from District 13 and the first game is set for 2:00 p.m., with game two to follow at 4:00 p.m.

Triopia bound for Clay Target Championships

Triopia High School will be among 460 high schools nationwide that will be participating in 2025 USA High School Clay Target League National Championship in Mason, Michigan from July 9 to July 13. Following check-in and practice on July 9 and 10, the team championship qualifier on July 11 will narrow the field down to the top 80 teams ahead of the July 11 championship.

Beardstown to host 11/12- year-old district tournament

The dates and locations for the 2025 District 17 Little League 9/10-year-old and 11/12-year-old All-Star baseball tournaments have been announced. Both divisions will feature a six-team double elimination tournament this year with Rushville hosting the 9/10’s and Beardstown the site of the 11/12-year-old tourney.
