Beardstown 11/12 Baseball Wins District

The Beardstown Little League 11/12-year-old baseball all-star team are the District 17 Champions, rolling to the title with an unbeaten, 3-0 record, winning all three games by double digits. Last Tuesday’s championship game against Pike County looked like it would come down to the wire until the local boys exploded for eleven runs in the top of the sixth inning to end all doubt and propel them to a 13 to 0 title game victory.

Tough Opening Loss for 9/10 Tiger Boys

A tough opening game loss last Monday for the Beardstown 9/10-year-old baseball all-star team sent them into the losers’ bracket, giving them an uphill battle in their quest to match the 11/12-year-old all-stars with a District 17 title. Leading 3 to 1 going into the bottom of the fifth inning, the Tigers saw Pike County score three runs to take a 4 to 3 lead, then turn an improbable double play to snuff out a would-be Beardstown rally in the top of the sixth.

Beardstown 9/10 Softball Eliminated

The Beardstown 9/10-year-old softball all-star team won twice in district play but it was not enough to advance as losses to Tri-County and Rushville eliminated them from postseason play. Tri-County knocked off the Lady Tigers 10 to 3 in the opening round, then Beardstown bounced back to beat Brown County 16 to 1 and Pike County 12 to 3 before falling to Rushville 7 to 2.

Tri-County Rolls to 9/10 District Softball Title

Three dominant wins highlighted by no-hit pitching have given the Tri-County 9/10-year-old softball all-star team a District 17 Championship and a trip to Clarendon Hills for the State Tournament. Tri-County beat Beardstown 10 to 3, then Rushville 17 to 2 and 10 to 0 to stamp their ticket to the big show, holding all three opponents hitless.

Here We Go Again!

A quest for a third straight Little League World Series Championship has begun for the Tri County Thunder District 17 Senior Girls softball team. Coach Tom Orr’s Thunder crushed District 13, Kaneland, in a two-game sweep at Bruce Rice Field in Beardstown last Monday afternoon.

Pony League All Stars selected

The local Pony League has made their All-Star selections for the 2025 season with players from Beardstown, Triopia and Rushville representing the area. This year’s squad will be composed of DeWade Gaffney, Jack Dewitt, Tucker Sorrells, Liam Skinner, Ashten Guzman, Jonah Behymer and Landon Yost of Beardstown; Lane Fricke, Tate York, and Ben Meyer of Triopia; and Jenson Demoss and Ashten Gomez of Rushville.

Tough loss for Tri-County 11/12 Little League Baseball

A tough 1 to 0 loss to Rushville eliminated the Tri-County Little League 11/12 year old baseball team from District play. They won their first game of the tourney 10 to 7 over Brown County, then fell to Beardstown 12 to 2 before the Rockets ended their postseason run.
