Exciting start for Lady Trojan Softball

Triopia-Meredosia-Virginia softball fans were treated to a double bonus by the Lady Trojans in the opening game of the year. A well-played ball game ended with a 2 to 1 Trojan walk off victory over Illini West in the bottom of the seventh.

Season opening win for BHS Soccer

The 2025 edition of the Beardstown High School Girls’ Soccer Team kicked off their season with a win over the host school at the Springfield Lutheran Tournament last Monday. The Lady Tigers took down the Crusaders by a score of 3 to 0.

Tough start for Trojan Baseball

Rough starts to the games led to a tough first week of the season for the Triopia-Meredosia-Virginia baseball team as the Trojans dropped all three games. They lost their opener last Monday, 16 to 2 to Illini West, fell 12 to 7 to Camp Point Central on Tuesday and were shut out, losing 6 to 0 on Thursday at North Mac.

Beardstown Track roundup

The Beardstown Junior High School and High School Track Teams kicked off their outdoor seasons last week. At a triangular meet last Tuesday at Havana with the Ducks and Canton, the seventh grade girls won first place while the seventh and eighth grade boys and the eighth grade girls all finished in second place.

Lady Trojans move to 3-1

The Triopia-Meredosia-Virginia Softball Team improved to 3-1 on the season, going 2-1 last week with two short game wins and a loss to a very good Hardin Calhoun team. The Lady Trojans opened the week with a 16 to 1 pounding of New Berlin, then lost 8 to 4 to Calhoun and finished the week with a 13 to 0 victory over West Central.

Lady Bluejays defeat Routt

The PORTA/A-C Central Lady Bluejay Softball Team went 1-2 last week to move their season record to 2-3. he Jays lost at home, 12 to 3 to Carrollton, defeated Jacksonville Routt on the road 13 to 1 and lost a tough one to Springfield High 3 to 2.

Bluejay Track at Sangamo Conference indoor meet

The PORTA/A-C Central Track and Field Teams took part in the Sangamo Conference Indoor Meet last Monday with the boys placing fourth and the girls placing eighth. Isaac Rennecker brought home First Place in the high jump and triple jump while Kade Parker was meet Champion in the 1600 meters and Caden Cave finished in sixth place.

Trojans get shut out

A tough schedule and a struggling offense has the Triopia-Meredosia-Virginia Baseball Team off to an 0-6 start with three losses last week. The struggling Trojan offense failed to score in any of the games and only managed five hits.

Bingo! Tri County fundraiser is a success

The Tri County Thunder District 17 Senior Softball Team, the back-to-back Little League World Series Champions have officially started the defense of their 2024 and 2023 Championships. Their bingo fundraiser held on March 29 was such a success that they have planned another one for Saturday, May 17.

Tigers Tame Panthers in Opener

The Beardstown Tiger Baseball Team won their season opener 6 to 3 over the Camp Point Panthers. The Tigers then suffered two very tough losses, as Canton and Athens both made late inning comebacks to defeat BHS, leaving the orange and black with a 1-2 record for their opening week of play.
