Knights leap Leopards

The AC Central Junior High School softball team only won one of three games last week, defeating just the Lincoln Magnet Leopards by a score of 9 to 7. The Lady Knights lost to West Central 13 to 3 and to the Springfield Catholic Cyclones 13 to 1.

Tiger Soccer knocks off SHG

Although the Beardstown High School soccer team went just 1-2 in the Williamsville Tournament last week, it was undoubtedly a successful week as the Tigers pulled off a program defining win, knocking off perennial power Springfield Sacred Heart Griffin in the opening game last Wednesday. The Tigers defeated the Cyclones 1 to 0 on a last-minute goal by Luis Hernandez from a Cesar Rodriguez assist.

Lady Tigers finish regular season with two losses

The Beardstown Junior High School Softball Team finished up regular season play last week with a 17-2 record. The Lady Tigers suffered their second loss of the season last Thursday, falling 8 to 6 to Carthage at home in extra innings.

BHS Volleyball in August Tourney

It has been a tough start to the season for the BHS Volleyball team as they played in the very competitive Augusta Southeastern Tournament last week and lost all five games to fall to 0-7 on the year.

Area high school golf results

The Virginia-Meredosia-Triopia High School golf team hosted two meets last week at K’s Creek Golf Course in Jacksonville. On Thursday the Redbirds smacked Palmyra-Northwestern, winning 160 to 210.

Home tournament, home victory for Lady Trojans

The Triopia-Meredosia-Chambersburg-Virginia Varsity Volleyball Team won their own Meredosia Tournament last week, winning all five games to remain undefeated on the year at 7-0. In the opener they defeated Griggsville-Perry 25-15; 25-10, then Pleasant Hill 25-12; 25-16 then North Greene 25-11; 25-13, then West Central 25-9; 25-16, then South County 25-13; 25-15 in the Championship Game.

Lady Indians win two of three

The Meredosia-Chambersburg-Virginia-Triopia Junior High softball team won two of their last three games to finish the regular season with a record of 12-6-1. The Lady Indians snuck by Pleasant Hill 3 to 2 in a nine-inning thriller last Tuesday, pounded Payson-Seymour 14 to 0 the next day, then lost a tough one to Carrollton 5 to 4 on Thursday.
