Union addresses dispute with JBS

JBS employees and members of UFCW Local 431 working at the Beardstown pork processing plant were prepared on Tuesday afternoon to peacefully protest to inform the public of their labor dispute with JBS. The protest concerned a dispute over JBS's attendance policy.

What is in a Christian name?

Many parents select a Christian name for their children without really thinking of the meaning or origin of that name. My first son’s name is Jason which in Hebrew means “the Lord is salvation” and in Greek means “the healer.” Jason is mentioned in the Bible Romans 16:21, where Paul refers to him as his kinsman, a faithful healer possibly.

Health issues take its toll

This past winter has been a tough one for me, especially February and March. Three trips to the hospital in Springfield plus two ambulance rides does take its toll on anyone, but especially senior citizens.
