Many times I sit in front of the computer trying to figure out what to write about. Sometimes I'm inspired and many times I'm not.
Based on the following readings Genesis 18:1-10, Colossians 1:24-28, Luke 10:38-42 one can see that Jesus let’s his followers know they are not to be anxious but to let go and let God be in control.
The heat has been relentless but it looks like we finally got some relief this week that will carry through next week. Who knew that high 80s was going to be our welcome relief? It’s still hot, but a few degrees less.
It’ been a busy, yet sad week as most of us have been glued to the television since the horrific, sudden flooding in Texas on July 4th. Over 100 have been killed including 27 children (at last count) and dozens are still missing.
This past week at First Southern we held Vacation Bible School. Our first night was Sunday evening and the start time was 6:00 pm.
An article in this week’s paper brought to our attention about 2029 being Beardstown’s Bicentennial. Beardstown was chartered in 1829.
Psalm 23:2-4; ”He makes me to lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside still waters. He restores my soul; He leads me in the paths of righteousness for His name’s sake Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.” Once in a while we have emergencies pop up and that happened to this week’s scheduled Focus on Faith writer.
Last week I had a sleep study done in Springfield. Allow me to clarify something right now.
I think summer came early this year. A week of temps over 90+ and heat index over 100 degrees is a bit much all at once.
