New radios, tasers in near future for BPD

Beardstown Chief Martin Coad approached Beardstown City Council at their meeting to discuss the possibility of purchasing new portable and mobile radios for the Beardstown Police Department. The current radios will become obsolete in the near future.

Two Cass veterans go on Honor Flight

Bud Dietsch, Chandlerville, and Paul Harris, Ashland, were part of the recent Honor Flight that flies veterans to Washington DC to visit memorials built to commemorate their service and sacrifice. Their flight was June 3 and both had escorts.

Social media agreement becomes disagreement

Whether or not to extend the social media agreement with Erin Brown for six months was discussed at the June 9th Cass County Board meeting. Kim Hance on the Tourism Committee said the Cass County site on Facebook had received over 75,000 views in the last 90 days.

Beardstown Board swears in new members

New members of the Beardstown School Board were sworn in at its regular meeting May 21. The board approved the results of the April 1, 2025 election of the “new” Board of Education members. The board then adjourned.

Beardstown farmer wins National Award in Soybean Yield Contest

Beardstown, IL, farmer Jarod Stock was recently honored among the region’s highest-producing soybean farmers in the 2024 Asgrow ® Brand National Yield Contest. Stock won the award with an impressive yield of 103 bushels per acre with Asgrow AG33XF3 Brand.

Chandleville Board seats new village president, trustees

The Chandlerville Village Board swore in their new Village President, Dean Eilers, incumbent Village Clerk, Dena Leinberger, and elected incumbent Trustees Adam Pherigo, Troy Campbell and new Trustee Claudette Givens. The board then accepted the appointment of new Trustees Cole Whitehead and Kenny Collins by Village President Dean Eilers.
